Drumanilra will be closing its doors in Boyle on the 21st September 2019 while we get to work on the next phase of our “food from the farm” project.  It has been seven years since we moved back to Drumanilra Organic Farm.  The kids have grown and so have our plans.  We now have everything in place to begin work on the opening of three premises here in the North West, all with the mission to to serve local food, sourced from our own organic farm and other small producers, with the highest regard for animal welfare and environmental sustainability, and which, above all, tastes fantastic!

Drumanilra Farm Kitchen will open in Strandhill in the Spring of 2020.  We plan to offer our organic burgers, steaks and salads from the farm, teamed with sustainably sourced, local seafood, and served with “direct from the vineyard” organic wines and Irish craft beers.  We will offer breakfasts featuring our organic sausages and rashers from the farm, as well as locally roasted coffee, organic baked goods and a healthy kids menu all day.  Our Farm Kitchen in Boyle, this year, won the “Best Free From” award in Connacht at the Irish Restaurant Association Awards.  We look forward to catering to gluten free diets and other food intolerances, as well as offering an extensive organic vegan and vegetarian menu.

The Drumanilra Farm Kitchen, Carrick-on-Shannon, will open in Summer 2020.  Ireland’s first ever drive-through, organic and sustainable, fast food concept, will open its doors on the site of the former Kentucky Fried Chicken unit in the Tesco retail park in Carrick-on-Shannon.  A “fast food” version of our Drumanilra Farm Kitchen  “organic food from the farm” concept, our menu will feature our organic meats, including our own-farmed Dexter beef burger, together with salads, veggie and vegan options.

All food served will comply with our food philosophy of locally farmed, high welfare, organic and sustainably produced ingredients, with many produced by us, on our own organic farm here on the shores of Lough Key, just outside Boyle.
We will offer a drive through menu, as well as a comfortable, eat-in setting, serving locally roasted coffee and organic, baked sweet things, alongside our organic burgers, salads and sandwiches.

Meanwhile, we will be getting to work on our building project here in Boyle.  We hope to start work on the new Drumanilra Farm Kitchen in Boyle next year, with an opening planned for 2021.  The plans include an extensive farm shop and family friendly restaurant with outdoor garden space, as well as a micro-brewery and demonstration kitchen.  The flag ship building will act as a venue for a calendar of events throughout the year, focused on promoting organic, sustainable food and farming methods.

That project will be closely tied to investment here on the original family farm.  We are already working towards putting in place infrastructure to accommodate visitor open days and events at the farm itself.  Visitors to the farm will be able to complete their food experience by learning the story first-hand, of how the food served in our shops and cafes is produced.

We’ll be spending the Winter months preparing for the next phase of our project.  We have had an amazing few years working here in Boyle and it will be an emotional day for us when we close the doors of the old Drumanilra Farm Kitchen for the last time.  We want to thank everyone locally and our customers from further afield, for making the project the success it has been so far.  This is an exciting time for our family, and we hope, for organic food, farming and sustainable living, in Boyle and the wider area.

If you’d like to get involved with our project, as a team member or as a supplier, we’d love to hear from you! You can get in touch via the contact page here on the website.  We will be posting updates on our progress here on the site, and on our facebook, twitter and instagram accounts.  Exciting times ahead!
