Galentine’s Day is the best holiday you’ve never heard of!
We all know Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and there are lots of options and offers around to celebrate (like a meal in Honestly Strandhill for example!), but let’s not forget about the newest holiday we are excited about around here – Galentine’s Day!
Galentine’s Day, 13th February, is a day to celebrate all the great gal pals in your life! Okay, so it may not be an official holiday, but what’s not to love; brunch and an excuse to celebrate the best friends we could ask for?! We are in!
Originally this holiday was coined by Leslie Knope in the sitcom Parks & Recreation, where Leslie hosts a Galentine’s Day brunch for all the women in her life. As Leslie explains: “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I just come and kick it, breakfast style!” Leslie, played by Amy Poehler, goes “all out” creating needle point cushions of her friends faces and more – no pressure!
We are happy with a good old fashioned brunch, and just taking the time to reconnect with old friends. It’s time to get back out, we have all been hibernating since Christmas (or was that just us?)
Galentine’s Day falls on a Monday this year, so we are allowing celebrations to start the weekend before. It’s never too early to celebrate the gals! So book a Sunday brunch with the gang in Strandhill, pop by Carrick-on-Shannon for a coffee or grab a takeaway and head for the hills!
